CPC Land Use Approval Granted for "The Exchange"

December 14, 2006 --- CALGARY. Calgary Planning Commission has granted preliminary Land Use Approval for The Exchange, a high density mixed use development proposed for a prominent site in Calgary's downtown Beltline district. The development is set to encompass an entire city block bordered by 11th and 12th avenues SW and MacLeod Trail.

The Architectural team is comprised of a joint venture between Poon McKenzie Architects [Calgary] and NORR Limited Architects and Engineers [Toronto] with Design Architect Louis Dionne. The Site is owned by Toronto- based Giffels.

"We've looked at this site in many different ways for various Clients over the years and are confident we have evolved the concept to a point where the City and community will receive the most benefit." said PMA Principal Bruce McKenzie, Architect MAIBC, AAA. "We're also delighted at the macro development strategies and creative results that have emerged during our collaboration with NORR and Monsieur Dionne."

The design concept includes commercial and residential uses, with a demonstrated commitment to pedestrian circulation, urban connectivity and comprehensive planning to encourage sustainable vibrancy.

The project is scheduled to go before City Council in January of 2007 for final Land Use Approval.
