PMA Joins Canada Green Building Council

November 8, 2005 --- CALGARY. Poon McKenzie Architects has joined the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC).

"I am pleased to see PMA’s commitment to Green design practices resulting in a membership with the CaGBC and I look forward to the exchange of knowledge that comes with membership in the Council." said PMA Designer Wolf Geisler, MAIBC, LEED™-AP. "I think it’s important that PMA joins with other interested Canadian firms who have a demonstrated commitment to improving the level of sustainability in today’s architecture."

According the CaGBC web site at www.cabgc.org, the Council has been formed "...to accelerate the design and construction of Green buildings across Canada. The Council is a broad-based inclusive coalition of representatives from different segments of the design and building industry."

Furthermore, the Council will work to "change industry standards, develop best design practices and guidelines, advocate for green buildings and develop educational tools to support its members in implementing sustainable design and construction practices."

In addition to joining the CaGBC, PMA continues to integrate sustainable design principles into the firm’s scope of services by developing Green design methodologies and improving the understanding of staff, consultants and Clients relative to environmentally sensitive options that are available to their project.
